Artisan Bio

Leonard Henry, born in 1948, grew up in South Carolina where he began building longrifles in the 1970's. Recently retired from the Coca-Cola Company, he now has a shop and builds on a full-time basis. Leonard creates late 18th century American longrifles and his trademark is L.Henry-Riflesmith. His rifles are produced using traditional hand tools and methods which give the rifles the appearance and feel of the original colonial weapons.

Leonard has performed restoration and appraisal work for Old Salem, University of South Carolina Museum and private collectors. His most recent project, a recreation of the 18th Century Ferguson Breech Loading Rifle, was awarded two Blue Ribbons at the 2012 Dixon's Gunmakers Fair.
