A Signed Martin Rizer rifle from Cumberland, Maryland. The Rizers came to Cumberland from Martinsburg, WV in the early 1790’s. This example is by Martin Rizer III who trained in Cumberland under his father Martin II. The rifle has a plain maple stock probably done in Ohio. The 37 inch rifled barrel was cut at the breech. It has a bone front sight. The 2-screw barrel tang is missing the back half. Silver inlays were retained.
