Product Description

ON HOLD Here is a rather plain rifle from Southwest Virginia. Architecturally related to the work of James Painter this example is signed in silver with script initials. The rifled barrel is 45 1/2 inches long with half circles engraved on each flat of the muzzle. The barrel is tapered and flared at the muzzle. Though plain the rifle boasts a beautiful old finish.

An old repair on the opposite side of the lock kept the old rifle in use. A couple other rifles of this architecture appear with signed barrels suggesting that Painter restocked broken rifles; this may be one of those examples. This is an interesting rifle in nice old condition at a reasonable price.
