Unsigned Henderson Bishop, Charles Town, Jefferson County, (now) West Virginia ca 1840. Several details on this rifle identify it as made by Henderson Bishop or his son John Henderson Bishop both working in Charles Town, WV. (email me for photos of a nearly identical signed example). The patchbox finial is identical to those used by the Lauck family in Winchester as well as the silver acorn inlays. The lock is original to the rifle. There are no wood replacements or wood losses to the curly maple stock. The rifled barrel is 40.5 inches long about .40 cal and decorated with engraving at the rear sight. The surface condition is untouched and retains beautiful patina. Available at $3,450.00
