John and Jacob Lauck worked with their father Simon Lauck in Winchester, Virginia from the late 1790’s. John died in 1828 and Jacob lived a long life. This is a better than average rifle for them; it has lots of silver. The barrel was shortened 2 inches and luckily the underpinng loops were moved. The lock is replaced as is the sideplate; both are acceptable but need some refinement. The rear sight was moved back and the old recess was left unfilled. For a little time and effort this will present alot better than it is now. Or it can be enjoyed as is since it is a rare rifle in acceptable condition. visit www.AspenShadeLTD.com for more antique Kentucky rifles.
