A nice example of an English officer’s or livery pistol with round face lock marked “ADAMS”. The round 9″ barrel, is bored a smooth .62 cal., and is engraved “LONDON” on the top in a teardrop finial. Tower of London private proof marks. Brass pommel cap with grotesque face. Bone tipped rammers with iron worms. Floral brass sideplate. Tang has silver wire inlay in a shell motif and brass thumbpiece. Stock shows numerous repairs, cracks, and chips throughout. Trigger guard is a replacement in the correct style but formed from brass sheet. Mechanically fine. Overall, a nice piece, circa 1760s.
