This is a very nice pair of French blunderbuss pistols from about 1770-1780 period. The barrels and lock plates are brass. The barrels are 7½” long and 1⅜” diameter at the breech. The muzzles are 1⅞” diameter with a bore of .65 smoothbore. The bores are excellent with just a bit of tarnish but no wear. Overall length is 13½”. They are wonderfully engraved as are the sideplates, guards and buttcaps which have a whimsical bird face engraved. The stocks are European walnut and are in excellent condition with some silver wirework behind the tangs. The locks are excellent with good, clean interiors and no replaced or broken parts. One hammer is slight smaller than the other but I’m sure it is original and not a replacement. The frizzens are very smooth and don’t appear to have been fired. Overall a wonderful set of early blunderbuss pistols in what looks like unfired condition. Price does not include shipping and insurance cost.
