Product Description

Bentwood boxes have been made and used for storage in European cultures for several hundred years. My boxes are made by using 18th Century bending and shaping techniques, and they are appropriate for any 18th Century living history interpretation. They also look extremely well in houses with either rustic or Early American décor. In bygone days, bentwood boxes were used by men in their shops and by women in the homes to store small items. My boxes have been juried in the Directory of Traditional American Crafts by Early American Life Magazine. With proper use, my boxes will last a lifetime.
Box # 197 is my ‘B’ size, the most popular size I make. It is oblong in shape, approximately 9 ½ inches long and about 4 inches tall. Excellent for storing those small items in an 18th Century shop. Also ideal for use in the kitchen or in the sewing room. I also use mine at parties for serving cookies and other small edible treats. When used to serve food, I put brown wax paper inside before I put in the food items.
Box is excellent for any 18th Century persona or living history interpretation. Box would also make an excellent Christmas present.
The paint on this box is one of the Old Fashioned Milk Paints which come in powder form and which I mix myself. The color is ‘barn red.’
The hand rubbed finish gives the box a nice patina and aged look.

Price is $ 50.00 plus shipping.
