If you are looking for a powderhorn / shotbag combination that is aged well and stands out, this is it.
This combination is right side carry.
The bag is made from vegetable tanned calfskin which has been stained a deep mahogany color. It is completely ” hand stitched ” with brown linen thread. The lining is leather under the flap and the rest of the bag is lined with a stained ticking material. I have added a full gusset with a leather flange between all seams for durability. The strap is double brass buckled for even adjustability on the shoulder. I have treated the bag with Fiebings Aussie Leather Conditioner which is what I have used for 30 years.
The bag measures 12″ wide X 9 3/4″ deep measured across the center of the bag. The leather attachments are a willow leaf pattern.
The horn is right side carry and measures 14 1/2″ on the outside curve. I have aged the horn by adding a false crack with 7 staples hand forged from steel wire. This horn is air tight. I have carved a french cross in the base plug as an added touch. The horn is heavily stained and aged to give it a deep patina. The strap is double brass buckled.
