This is a very nice custom longrifle by Keith Casteel. It is very high quality with a lot of Keith’s typical over the top artwork. Keith is now in his 90’s and no longer building guns so this is a chance to get one of his guns at a decent price. This rifle is used but in very good condition. This rifle is stocked in a piece of very nice curly maple that that is stained to a nice medium brown. The entire stock is covered in very well executed silver wire work. There are a few light wear points and handling marks but nothing out of the ordinary for a rifle that is 35 years old. The hardware is brass that has aged to a nice patina. The barrel is probably a Getz, 36″ long swamped in .54 caliber. The bore is in excellent condition. The lock is a Chamber’s large Siler style and there is a touch hole liner. The double triggers will fire set or unset. The gun is named “War Eagle” and the name is engraved on the muzzle. It comes with a powder horn beautifully engraved with a matching motif. Also included is a signed copy of Keith’s book. Overall it is in very good condition. Inlets are tight and well done. A rifle of this quality would run quite a bit more today. Weight is 8 lbs. 10 oz. Pull is 13½”. www.claysmithguns.com
