Just finished, a nicely presented NC/Virginia early southern iron mounted mid1760-1780’s rifle.
C-weight.54 Cal 42 ” Rice swamped barrel
Modified Davis trigger set
L&R Queen Ann lock
The 2 inlays are German silver
The patch box was cut to match an original NC rifle.
All the iron trim was finished in an antique gray
Stocked in a fire piece of grade 5 curly sugar maple. The stain is homemade from blood root , poke berry and butternut hull. The finish is tung oil.
An appropriate amount of line carving along the ramrod channel, bottom of the butt stock and tobacco leaf carving around the tang which was quite popular on mid-18th century NC and Va rifles.
