Carved Spout – Fully Translucent Powder Horn
This graceful, caramel-colored powder horn won the Guild Master’s Challenge Award at the 2025 Annual Horn Guild Meeting in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Also featured in MUZZLELOADER magazine (July/August 2025)
This double-curl horn is fully translucent from base to tip, allowing you to see your powder level at a glance. It measures just over 13” along the outside curve and more than 2” across the base. Properly thinned, it is exceptionally lightweight and well-balanced.
The octagonal carved spout measures approximately 2¼” long and features a refined carved bead at the tip. The strap retention ring is also carved in an octagonal form to flow seamlessly with the paneled spout. The tip has been lightly antiqued with a period stain, then polished back to suggest gentle, authentic age.
The slightly domed maple base plug is fitted with a brass ring drawer pull for strap attachment. The brass ring has been soldered closed for durability.
