Black Powder Horn by Mike Roberts. This fully engraved horn was inspired by the original “Rubben Smith” horn found in the Hartley Horn Drawings book. This is a French and Indian War horn. The original horn is dated April 12, 1760.
This map horn includes New York to Ontario along the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers, indicating all the forts over the length of the rivers. Other notable scrimshaw includes a British Coat of Arms, two sailing ships, and the maker’s mark.
It is a left-side carry horn that is 12” on the outside curve. The maple base plug is secured by 8 steel nails. The throat has engrailing and two raised rings for securing the strap and a paneled tip. There is an acorn shaped tip to keep your powder dry. The jute strap is included.
