Product Description

I’m offering a .40 caliber Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle stocked in extra fancy maple, finished with a strong emphasis on historical correctness and original appearance.

All furniture and hardware have been fire blued. The barrel was finished using a layered combination of browning, bluing, and blackening solutions, producing a subtle, varied patina with depth—much closer to original rifles than a uniform modern finish. Considerable time and care went into this process, and the result is a finish that looks “right” rather than freshly dipped.

The rifle has seen very light use—approximately 40 rounds total. It has been cleaned and lightly greased after every shooting session and remains in excellent condition.

Accuracy has been excellent. Current load that shoots exceptionally well:
.380 round ball
Pillow ticking patch
40 grains of 3F (square load)
This is a well-sorted SMR that would make a fine target rifle, small-game rifle, or addition to a historically minded collection. I’m delving more into the colonial period than the mountain man era with my living history, which is my only reason for selling; this is the most accurate rifle I own.

Price: $2,000 shipped in the Continental U.S., which is feel is more than fair. I paid nearly $1,700 for the kit and spent untold hours putting it together. The last two guns I shipped cost me $160 fully insured.

Payment: I accept most common forms of payment
