Artisan Bio

Ken became interested in muzzleloading in 1973. He built a Kentucky rifle in 1974 and began leatherwork, making pouches and accoutrements for himself, which then led to making them for blanket prizes, gifts and then for sale. He started selling antiqued leather-covered journals with handlettering and water color illustration in the early 1970s. His goal as an artist is to create every item with an historical past with an aged look and feel to it. He has made pouches for the Leonardo DeCaprio movie, The Revenant" as well as for the Billie Bob Thornton (Davey Crockett) movie ,The Alamo, . Early American Life magazine thrice named him one of the top craftsmen in America for both his paintings and his leatherwork. His pouches were rated for their quality workmanship, fidelity to period design and construction techniques by judges expert in museum-quality antiques and fine, high-end reproductions. His work has also been featured in videos, tv documentaries and numerous times in magazines and on their covers.
